The Promise-Keeping God – Nehemiah 9:1–9:22

I don’t think this passage is carried on from yesterday’s, since the last chapter was about a feast… but today’s passage is about Israel’s fasting and repentance for their sins. During this time, either a group of people or maybe just Ezra (unknown) said a prayer. This prayer in Nehemiah 9 is the longest documented prayer in the Bible (I think?). The passage is super long, but in short, the Israelites are glorifying God for His many wondrous works.

The thing I centered on most while I was reading this passage was on the part about God’s promise with Abraham, but to everyone in general. The promise God made to Abraham was that his offspring will inherit the land of the Canaanites and others. This was fulfilled by Joshua and Caleb in Exodus. But in general, the whole Bible is really built on promises, from the ones in the OT looking forward to Jesus, to even Jesus’s promise to come back a second time. I am so glad that our God is a promise keeper, not just a promise maker. I am looking forward to the promises still yet to be answered.
